FR Coming soon to the Mac App Store

Need a hand?

Write to hello@aifordocs.fr. A real person answers, in English or French, usually within a few business days.

To speed things up, tell us your okrly version (Settings › About) and your macOS version (Apple menu › About This Mac), and what you were doing when the problem appeared. In okrly, Help › “Email Support…” opens a message with both versions already in its subject. A screenshot often helps. Please don’t send your data: we’ll only ask for it if there’s no other way.

Frequently asked questions

Installing and buying

What do I need?

A Mac running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.

Can I install okrly on several Macs?

Yes. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account: on another Mac signed in to the same account, find okrly in the Mac App Store under your purchases and download it again at no cost. Each Mac keeps its own data.

Is there a subscription or any in-app purchase?

No. One purchase; updates come through the Mac App Store.

How do I ask for a refund?

Sales and refunds are handled by Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose “Request a refund,” pick a reason, then select okrly.

Your data

Where is my data?

On your Mac, in the app’s folders, and nowhere else, apart from the backups you export yourself. There is no account and no server.

How do I make a backup?

Choose Settings › Data › Backup › “Export Backup…”. A single file holds everything: vision, areas, objectives, key results, reviews, and cycle settings. Keep it off your Mac: an external drive, iCloud Drive, or whatever you already use.

How do I move to a new Mac, or get my data back after reinstalling?

Export a backup on the old Mac, install okrly on the new one, then choose Settings › Data › Backup › “Restore from Backup…”. Restoring replaces the data in place; the app keeps a safety copy first.

Careful: removing the app with a cleaner utility may also remove its data folder. Make a backup first.

Does my data sync between my Macs?

No. okrly keeps everything on your Mac and connects to nothing. To move to another Mac, use a backup file.

How do I remove the examples, or erase everything?

Settings › Data › Examples: “Remove Examples…” takes out the examples and keeps your own objectives, their reviews, and your vision; “Reload Examples…” brings them back, replacing everything. Settings › Data › Erase › “Erase Everything…” deletes objectives, areas, vision, and reviews, and the welcome screens come back. Before each of these, a safety copy is kept in the app’s folder; Settings › Data › Backup › “Show Safety Copies” shows them in the Finder.

Using the app

How do I change the cycle length?

Settings › Behavior › Cycles: 1, 2, 3, 4, or 6 months, or 1 year, plus the “First cycle of the year on” setting. By default, three-month cycles from January 1. Changing the length moves nothing; “Realign…” offers to line up planned objectives with the new cycles.

I skipped a review. Can I catch up?

Yes. On the Objectives page (⌘2), click “Update” beside the objective, or use “Update All My Objectives…” (⌘R), then change the “Review date”: the review slots into the history where it belongs. If you have already reviewed since, today’s values stay as they are.

What happens at the end of a cycle?

Each objective offers two choices. “Close” freezes it at its score and sends it to Achievements. “Carry Over” closes it and starts a copy in the next cycle, with the same key results and today’s values. Both can be undone with “Restore.”

How do I add the widget?

Control-click the desktop, choose “Edit Widgets…”, search for okrly, then pick the Footprint widget in one of its three sizes. Open the app at least once so the widget has something to show.

How do I change the language?

Settings › Appearance › Language: System, Français, or English, then “Relaunch okrly.” “System” follows your Mac: French if it is set to French, English otherwise.

I’m not getting the review reminder.

Check that “Notify me on review day” is on in Settings › Behavior › Reminder, then that notifications are allowed for okrly in System Settings › Notifications.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?
  • Go: ⌘0 Home · ⌘1 Vision · ⌘2 Objectives · ⌘3 Timeline · ⌘9 Achievements · ⌘K Search…
  • File: ⌘N New Objective · ⌥⌘N New Key Result (on an objective’s page) · ⇧⌘N New Area · ⌘R Update All My Objectives…
  • Edit: ⌘Z Undo · ⇧⌘Z Redo
  • okrly: ⌘, Settings
